Looking for a very narrow taillight...

...about 1" high, 6.5" long to mount into the flat rear edge of the GPz seat cowl. Does anyone know of a bike or car taillight like this? I could probably make one but I would prefer a DOT light to avoid problems.

You got me looking at what's in the hotrod/custom car world and I came across this web site. Almost perfect sizes, and can't beat the prices.
www.customclassic.com/products/lights/ledlights.htm
Well, they're not DOT, but maybe a sidemount license with DOT taillight, and a row of LEDs in the back of the seat cowl for safety should work.
Edit - Hmmm - just read the installation instructions. Still looking!

I'd like to do something simialar on my 650. Found out some info about LED lights, and may try to build my own. Look at this for something a bicyclist did.
www.pilom.com/BicycleElectronics/LEDtail.htm
Also goto www.OSRAM.OS.DE to see the primary LED makers product catalog. in their product catalog they discuss automotive applications (way to detailed in my opinion).
Haven't yet found a source for buying the LEDs though.

I chased down some ideas through chopper and hotrod sites and ended up back on ebay. Found this, and they are DOT approved as "marker" lights. Price is right too! Not quite the size I'm after, so I'll make a bracket and hang it all under the end of the seat cowl.
