Z1R body set on a 1974 Z1 900

I was wondering if it was a direct swap? I know i will have to change the side cover mounting points( no bigee though). Will the tank and tail fit on the z1 frame?

im not sure but what are you doing with z1 parts if it works?:laugh:

the tank will fit.the side covers and rails will have to have mounts fabbed,and the tail will take a jag of work to make fit.what about mounting the fairing and guages?do you have that stuff?the seat is different also will need mounts for that,and a z1r seat pan wouldn't hurt.it is doable just depends on how much work you want(or can)do.

Z1R also has a different front master cylinder setup with remote reservoir. Am guessing the standard model front master cylinder setup won't readily accomodate the Z1R fairing.

I asked about the Z1R tank swap onto my 77 KZ1000A1 on another forum a while back and as mentioned it shd. fit. The 1978 Z1R tank is somewhat different from the 1980 Z1R tank, but the mounting flanges at the front (where the rubber frame dounuts go) shd be the same. In attached pic the left tank is 1978 & the right tank is 1980. I might use the 1978 Z1r tank for my 2nd build. I grabbed this pic off the net. Cheers, Doug
