No, I purchased the tanks and then cut out the top and bottom (where the gas overflow goes) with a metal shear gun that I picked up on the cheap from Harbor Freight. I had formerly done the first one with my grinder and a cut-off wheel. A dremel would be just fine; remember to save as much metal as you can, that way your machinist can use what he wants and he can cut off what he doesn't want.
Do you live in Australia? $50 seems pretty steep in US funds...well, I guess if it's $50 including getting it shipped I suppose that wouldn't be terrible. And yes, the damn salvage yards sell the caps separately...bastards. Pick one up off eBay on the cheap. If you get all worked up drop me a line, I can hook you up.
I'm not at home at the moment, I'll try to post some pics of what I've cut out tomorrow.

I had a squiz at some tanks and found one that do'nt have an overflow tube - gpx250 or 600, so the cap must breath on it own as well, I realy did'nt want to instal an overflow thingy. Are there any other model tanks with flush mount caps that dont have tubes and nipples?

Well, you don't have to install an overflow vent, but if you put too much fuel in it it'll spill all over your paint.
