How hard is it to add a tail to a KZ650 D2? I have access to get a good shape D2, but I really wanted the tail of the KZ650 C3. Also, if it's not Too hard to do, about how much will this project cost?

The B/C tail require mounting tabs with threads in the rear frame. The D model lacks them.

I saw that. Thanks for the link, though. I was hoping someone might have a little more info. I looked for pictures of the two models without the seats so that I could compare the differences, but couldn't find any. Don't suppose anyone here has pictures of them? Does the seat mount the same? Is it only a few tabs and the seat shape that are different? If so, that's totally doable. My dad can weld on some tabs and I don't mind buying a seat and tail section. As long as the frames themselves aren't different... Other than the tail section, they're Basically the same bike, correct?
Sorry for all the questions. I'm new to KZs and actually won't even have the bike for another week. Thanks in advance for all your help. This forum is a great resource.
Here's a recent topic w a pic - tail section question . JMK.

The seats mount similarly, but the hinges are in different locations and the seats are shaped differently for the difference in body shape. I could easily take pictures as I have one each of a D and B model.

It sounds like something I could manage, so I'm going to go ahead and get the bike. If you wouldn't mind taking pictures, that would be awesome of you and I would appreciate it. Is your tail already off and the differences visible, though? I wouldn't want to put you to too much trouble.
