I can't find the post, but i read someone put a gsxr gascap on their bike. I was wondering how they did that and if they have pics.

Here is a side-view of one of my "J"s with a late model fuel cap welded-in. Didn't know if this is what you're talking about; but if you notice it makes the lines on the tank very smooth.
Also, it makes the visuals on the tank look very 'race' and contemporary.

Since I don't know how to put more than one photo on a post, here's a pic of the tank from the top.
How it's done: You get a late model tank that has the filler cap the way you want and cut it out being sure to keep as much metal around the fuel cap as possible; let your welder/machinist decide where he wants to weld the material together and let him cut-to-fit. Your welder will grind away the paint from your tank to get bear metal to make the welds. After it's welded then I chose to put some (black) paint on the bear metal to keep the tank protected while I continue the work...keeps it from rusting up.

Oh, by the way; I've done this to three different tanks for three different bikes. The effect is most dramatic on bikes with large/clunky fuel caps. My CB900F tank had the most noticable visual impact. I love the new look while still keeping true to the 'lines' of the original design...and you sure don't see many other bikes with this mod.

The key is the 'right' welder b/c the metal is very thin, and sometimes the metal can be two different thicknesses. Also, you're going to want to MAKE SURE that the drain tube is welded in. My machinist/welder is a perfectionist.
Good luck on your project and be sure to post up what you do!

The "drain tube" that needs to be welded in....
Is this for the venting? I don't completely understand.

I love this! I have wanted to do this for a long time but I haven't been able to find the right tank with the cap still in it for the right price.

I have gotten mine off eBay (a beat up tank with fuel cap still in tact) or the local salvage yard, or the last one came from the local hot-rod motorcycle shop...never paid more than $10 for one...but the welder is $100 to do the job, at a minimum; but he's the best, so I don't mind. If you get despirate, I could probably spare one of mine...I've been hording them.
