I have to say that I LOVE a black motor. Culberson and Bluemeanie have fantastic examples of how to do it 'reasonably'. Myself I prefer no chrome, but you can see how it looks good in contrast to the black. Bluemeanie's clean brushed aluminum looks sweet...

I picked this 79 LTD up a month ago. The guy that did the work died and it has set for a few years. He chromed the lower forks and the rear swing arm. I guess he liked chrome. Heck the triple tree has been chromed too. The ONLY reason I like chrome is it looks better then pitting. Easy to care for. This bike has chrome overdose. The paint is soooo ugly its hard to see all the chrome. My eyes are drawn to the paint. Makes me want to toss my lunch.

Bluemeanie, you did that in the frame?!?!? Did you do, or HAVE to do any sanding on it? My motor is horribly pitted, calcified, whatever.. After trying to clean it in frame i came to the conclusion i had to take it out. Going with the vht black satin for motor.
