paint match for 78 KZ650 C2?

I just bought a 78 KZ650 C2, the bike has been repainted white and I know the original color is a metalic stardust silver. I do not have a decent patch of original paint left on the tank or side covers to do a decent match with.
Does anyone know of a decent match say in a BASF or Dupont color? I don't know how I could get a match without buying a decent side cover - that seems like an option but it could be a $$ solution.
Can anyone help?

The 1978 Z1R also came in the same colour. Only two bikes that did.
Do a search on finding a colour match for the Z1R, as I know there's been a few posts on them.

If you're looking for an exact unmolested/unfaded part to have a painter match the color from, although sometimes pricey, eBay is usually the best bet.


A NOS Right Hand side cover, part number 36007-054-7W and is the same as the 36001-5038-7W. Fits the KZ650 C2.

Needed parts eventually always pop up.
It simply depends on how long you're willing to wait for it/them to appear, and of course how much it/they are worth to you.
If you're willing to wait long enough (and pay enough!), you could actually replace all of your bodywork (correct color and stripes for the year) with perfect, NOS parts.

Have you been to KZ650.INFO? They have a link under Tips and Tricks which provides the paint matrix for all models. This also references PaintWorkz.com site. They have a color code as well as the number of coats. I will be exploring this as I will be repainting my C2 shortly.

I am sending all of my body pieces to reproduction decals who will make the striping kit.

I will let you know as I proceed. Let me know what find out, too. Good Luck.
