Help with gas cap on my 77 KZ1000
08 Jan 2008 06:12
I have a really bad looking gas cap on my 1977 KZ1000. The ones I see on ebay when they pop up aren’t any better. The OEM gas caps are not available anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions rather than spend 100+ dollars to replate my existing cap?
I see that Z1 no longer has these caps but they are looking for an after market supplier. I’ve seen the ones that fit the KZ900 that look similar but open without a key by just pressing on them to release the catch. Will a KZ900 gas cap fit the KZ1000? Thanks

btchalice,
Thanks for the reply. I sent them an email and am waiting to see if that part is available. I will guess it’s not. These are really hard to find new. By the way I’m originally from Wichita. Grew up on south Washington past 31st.

I'm thinking it's another one of those sites that lists the parts but do not have them.
Does anyone have a suggestion on possibly painting this part or some kind of a coating that will look halfway decent and be somewhat gas resistant?

I never thought of that. It might just work out nice. I'll check into it. Thanks
