Tank emblems?

Looking for a nice tank for my bike. I know in the earlier years the emblem was recessed into the tank. Looking at a couple nice '78 tanks on ebay and noticed that emblems now just screw on to bracket with NO recesse. I believe that 78's came with slanted capitol letters. Mine are the newer style with straight up with lower case letters. Will either one fit? Are screw holes the same? Thanks...

They started using the emblems like your F1 uses in 1979. They bolt on the exact same way, so if you find a tank without the resess for the emblems you can use either type on the tank. Most if not all replacement tanks sold through Kawasaki used the tank where you can use either type emblem. I think only the original production tanks sometimes indented for the emblems. Strange my 78 has the indents where the 77 does not.

The blue tank above IS a 78 (I contacted seller and he said yes it is a 78 not an 80) So I'm assuming "my" emblems will screw on? Also looking at this one, emblems should swap? Thanks...

under decals and emblems search , i found some but there is 2 differnt lengths one is 6 1/2 " and the others are 7 " inches
can someone tell me too when did they change
