I need to get a cover for this seat, but not sure what to look for. I have only seen 1 pic of a KZ650 with this style of seat.

I think your seat is "aftermarket".
The stock seat would have been the flat "ironing board" style, with a strap across it.

I dont think it's aftermarket.
I have the flat seat on my 77 B1,
but my 77 C1 came with a seat just like tlh101's.
I has all the kaw info on the underside of the pan and the spot for the owners manual.
But I'll be damned if I know what year/style it's from.

You may have the original seat pan, but the foam and styling are non-standard...so if it is an original pan (as suggested by mariozappa) then someone has modified and you can either cut different foam or replace the entire seat, if you don't want to mess with it. The seat positively did not come from factory Kawasaki that way (which doesn't mean the dealer didn't swap or alter the seat).

Nope, All KZ650B and C came from Kawasaki with the same seat, the one pictured in LTDrider's response which just happens to be my trusty original KZ650 I bought nearly 28 yrs ago :-)Kawasaki has never offered an optional seat. Aftermarket was overflowing with seat builders making these double buckets because they offered the false hope of armchair comfort. Also Kawasaki never ever had a bike with a double bucket seat. Some were flat, some had a step, some had a larger step, but nothing even remotely similar to this seat ever was offered from Kawasaki.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

That's good info to know.
But, I would like to be able to find a replacement when mine goes bad, it is a lot more comfy than the original.

Ron:
Didn't mean to post your picture without your OK ... I just googled KZ650, and copied the prettiest one I saw into the post. I was rushed, and didn't look to see whose bike it was.
But it SURE IS a fine example ;)

Ron, I think Kawasaki did have an optional LTD style seat back then. It wasn't stock but you could order it as an option. Mine has one........
