wow never thought of using bar end mirrors. i am 6'6 and i have the same problem. let us know if it works im tired of looking at my shoulders too!
on my kz1000, i'm using the 'long' z1 mirrors, and they're fine.
on my kz550, i'm using some short HD mirrors with these extenders:

Hey Duncan I have the long Z1 mirrors on mine now and all I see is my shoulders heres a pic
nice bike!
i've tried a bunch of mirrors on my kz1000 and like the look of the long z1 mirrors the best. the mirror extenders would move them out another 1 5/8". i ordered mine in aluminum, but sprayed them black to blend with the black handlebars, mirrors, grips, and switches.
