Im looking at purchasing a gas tank that will fit my kz700. The problem is that the emblem holes/area is filled and painted over.

How would i go about removal of the bondo and preserve the tank?

The tank is not rusted inside. That is what the seller says anyway.I was thinking about bead blasting it and being careful not to blow a hole into it.

Any suggestions will be helpfull.
Thank you for your time.:S

paint stripper will remove bondo, but you might have to do it a couple times.in order to glass bead the bondo off you would have to crank the pressure way up which put a lot of waves in your tank!goodluck, happywrenching!

all you need to remove is the bondo for the screw holes.
id use an x-acto to remove the majority then use a tap that fits to get the rest out.
even old cured bondo will absorb water and become a little more pliable
