I took a piece of Aluminum stock and bent it into a "U" shape then used a dremel to cut and shape it to go under the back of the rear of the seat. This lets the seat ride on something to give it support. I've sat my 22 lbs. on it and it has no give.
I don't know what you mean by removing the taillight thing but I think you are referring to the ducktail that somany of these bikes have. Mine never had one. if you want to remove yours look around for the rear fender from a LTD model. They aren't that expensive.

Yes removing the ducktail... I wasn't sure if that was the name for it, but yes that's what I mean, will that fender bolt right on to my kz 750 or would I have to make some "adjustments" Thanks! :P

This is for a 400 LTD is that what you're talking about?

I honestly don't know. Mine is a 750 ltd and came that way. I've never dealt with a ducktailless bike. Although there is a thread on here now where a guy is doing away with his fender. His frame and fender mounts look a lot like what is under my seat so I think it will probably be a pretty straight forward operation.
