Sorry if this is repeated somewhere, but I did a couple of searches and couldn't find anything.

Planning on redoing the paint on my handlebar controls, master cylinder, and front brake. Looks like some sort of satin black but any suggestions on brands would be great.

Hoping to get my little 400 looking good so I can sell it and buy something with 4 cylinders (650, 750 or 900 (that's dreaming I know! :p )) The 400's great for commuting but I can't keep up with the guys around here with their 1000's (except in the twistys  )

Any help would be appreciated!

Here's my thread from the Archives:

I repainted the controls almost 3 years ago, and they still look good.
The reservior....
I ordered a decal for the lid from a restoration decal site, then I painted the reservoir body with black paint. Tricky, because the brake fluid will make the paint peel, so you have to get it really clean before you paint.
Good luck.

Thanks! There's a sandblast booth where I work that sometimes sees some after hours use . That and some aircraft cleaner seems to do the trick.

For paint I used DupliColor Hi heat engine paint. The finish is perfect.

I also use silicone brake fluid on the rebuild.
It will not hurt the paint, or absorb moisture.
Much better than standard brake fluid.
