I have a question for the painters. I bought an undertail for my dragbike, but its the wrong color. (thats why i got it under half price!B) ) anyway, I want to rattle can it black for now untill i get a full set of catylist race plastics next yr (a lot lighter:whistle: ) its professionally done and cleared i believe, do i start out with sanding it with say 400 grit, and just spray it?
thx

You could. B)

Since you only need it to last a year or so, it would probably hold up that long.

WAIT! I think I can hear RonKZ now!

:P

Anyways, it might stick a bit better if you did a wet sanding with that #400, shot a couple dry coats of rattle-primer, scuffed that, then tack-ragged it and then shot your black. ;)

Here I am. :P If you get it to hold up a year, you're darn close to Guiness record as if you look in the catagory for longest longevity of a repaint, one lasted 1.2 years back in 1983 for the best repaint ever applied. Been a long standing record not broken forever.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

compared to a cut stock mudflap (cut because it was ugly and i needed to put the tire back there)

Yep. Scuff it down and shoot it. B)

After a couple of runs down the track, it won't matter anyways - mudflaps is mudflaps. ;)

its done actually:P it was red
i wet sanded with 400, and gave it 3 coats of gloss black....thats it  i was going to clear it, but the rattle can clear did that thing where it wrinkles the paint on a test piece and i didnt feel like doing the tiny dry coats over and over like you were talking about in another post. its just going to have a bit of sand and burnt rubber thrown at it anyway... ill do it again next yr the same way if i dont get the race plastics and 6 inch extended street tail....
