A good bench grinder, some buffing compound and a little elbow grease will make them really shine. The worse part is you need to remove the parts to do them on a bench grinder or buffer.

If I add up all of the time I have into polishing my engine covers it would be north of 60 hours, so I have a little experience in this area.

Mine were totally pooched and the oxidized aluminum would only come back to life with wet sanding. I started with 180 then moved to 320, 400, 600, 1000. Then I used that old Canadian miracle past called Auto-Sol. I don't believe it is sold in any other countries.

I tried Mothers Billet Polish, some True Blue stuff and even got my hands on some jewellers rouge-type polish. Nothing worked like Auto-Sol and lottsa elbow grease. The stuff is like a toothpast compound with very fine abrasives blended in. I know abrasives might not be the words you want to hear but the stuff is even safely used for polishing musical instruments.

The cases all shine like chrome and the only problem is that some of the original chrome parts on my bike look dull compared to the cases.

Jeff at Z1 enterprises should look at bringing this stuff into his inventory. Once guys try it they won't look for anything else.
