Seat compatibility

I have a 79 KZ400 LTD. Does anyone know what seats are or aren't compatible? I'd like to switch out the seat for something a little more streamlined, like the 1982 kz650 seat. Are these two compatible?

I don't think any seat will ever swap from one cc class to another in any of the Kawasaki line. That's not to say it can't be done as a buddy of mine ran a Yamaha XS series seat on his KZ1100. Not a direct bolt on I can assure you though. They all have different mounting points, different latch points as well as different shapes. Many may look the same but none are.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

The easy way to go is to take off the seat cover and reshape the foam the way you would like it. I used a electric knife and smoothed the foam waith a sanding pad on a grinder. Then recover it your self or pay some one to do it. It's a lot cheaper to do this and it looks much better.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm purchasing a second seat, I'm going to rework the foam. I know of a place that can do the leather for me.
Thanks!
