I don't know if the later twins had key numbers stamped on the face of the locks (mine do), but it's worth a look. Take a real close look, the numbers are pretty small... at least if you had that, you could get replacement keys...I have a 82 kz750 twin that i just bought. How does the seat lock and helemt lock work? I have tried to unlock it with my ignition key but it does not work. The ignition key work in the ignition. Is there a different key to open the seat and helmet lock?

The gas caps on the old bikes aren't really *keyed*, per se. They can be opened with a thin screwdriver...My key also unlocks the gas tank.
