What's the best way to touch-up powder coating?

I scratched the only square inch that I didn't have protected when I put the engine back in the frame.

i'd bet that you could call your p/c guy and ask if he'll re-coat that section.
it shouldn't have chipped easily, so they might just fix it for free.
you *might* try putting the piece back in place and hitting it with a heat gun to see if it will re-cure.
not sure if that will work, and you might want to check with the coater before doing that, as it will probably mess things up worse...

Just had a thought... (hey, that's at least two today!)
What if I put on the paint pretty heavy with a brush and stuck the scab back on? Do you think the paint would hold it on like glue?
Nah, probably not. :S

Using paint to touch up will be tough because the powder is so thick. You will have to either fill in the chip and then paint or try to paint.. sand..paint..sand until the paint in built up.
Very good point. I'll probably try to brush on the layers so it will be a bit thicker.

I would super glue the chunck on then fill the crack with paint. yuo can polish it smooth when dry.
Mark
Funny you should say that...my brother suggested the exact same thing. I guess I'll give that a try and see if the super glue holds. If not, I'll peel the scab and start carefully applying layers of touch up paint.
Thanks for the tips...Keep 'em coming!

there is no way to do just part of the frame it would have to be striped sanded cleaned and redone.
but as a thought get some color match paint same as your frame mix it with some 2 part epoxy and re attach chip blending in seam with the epoxy this would be your easiest fix.

Again, seems to me that there was an oversite in prepping your frame from the coaters. That portion of your frame was 'probably' not etched (sanded, or media blasted) in that spot and the powder didn't have anything to adhere to when it got hot.
Anyway, good luck.

Seems that way to me as well - lousy prep.
If at all possible/feasible, shaming the original coater into doing a decent job in the first place is your best fix.
One thing I'd avoid attempting to re-attach the big-honkin' flake that fell off would be the super glue. Chemically, it's pretty temporary stuff - seems to be susceptible to oxidation/UV issues. It might work okay for a little while, but make a bigger mess when it comes apart - the residues it leaves behind are positively fugly.
I'd stick with Kano's epoxy idea.
