Tail Cowl was created by nsgreen248
I was wondering if a tail cowl off a 79 KZ650 C will fit on a 79 KZ650 D?

Could get the part number from Kawasaki.com, then navigate to the "part search box", insert the number and should see a list of models using that same part number.
Am still struggling a little with learning best way to the parts search box.

Kawasaki.com lists only the following three 1979 KZ650 models: KZ650, 650 Custom and 650 SR.
1979 KZ650-C3 Custom shows rear seat cover Part No. 53043-016 which appears to be the tail coil in question.
Search on Part No. 53043-016 shows used on 1979 KZ650 B3 and C3, but a "D" is not shown.
Is the 79 KZ650 C a "C3 Custom" and does the 79 KZ650 D have a further designation such as LTD or SR or D2 or anything like that?
Don't blame you for being doubtful about whether the parts will interchange. Sure be nice if you could arrange for a test fit before making any non-refundable financial commitment. Sorry being not more familiar with the different 1979 KZ 650 models.

There is a red D model 650 in the gallery with a BC tail on it. Try a search in the forums as this was discussed only a few weeks ago.
The seats are different and would need to be switched as well.
