some quick help! paint brush (foam or bristle)

i have some free time later today and want to start
repainting a project bike...
i had wanted to use a brush of sorts (rather than a "spray"; as i want to avoid extra work by "taping" over parts not to be painted), but the shop relaly only had "spray" cans available...
so...
this is my plan, spray some paint into a cup, then use it from there...
but the question is this....
what is the best type of brush for this job?
i have a few "foam" ones here at home and available, but no "bristle" type brushes...
would the foam ones be OK?
or should i take the time and go pick up some bristle types...?
thanks...

I'll see your two cents, and raise you a nickel. No offense, but painting a bike with any kind of "brush" is going to look horrible. May as well break out the latex wall paint and use a roller!

Primemover, don't be lazy. Newspaper and masking tape aren't that hard to work with, and whatever you are painting will look 1000 times better. There's nothing worse than looking down at your bike and seeing THAT PLACE where you took a shortcut last year, and now realize how tacky it looks.

i've done this touching up hard to see frame areas....but nothing else!!While we are ripping you a new one, that idea of spraying paint into a cup and then using a brush is a bad one, too. I think you'd wind up with a big mess and a lousy job. You might get a little high though...
