HELP: what tanks will fit a csr650

im going to convert my csr650 bobber to a cafe superbike. im gonna use a fiberglas vintage race seat, twin dics front end, & a rear wheel off one of my old kz900 drag bikes. the stock csr tank aint gonna cut it. does the kz or the sr tank fit my frame with little or no mods ??? thanks for the help guys......snake

The KZ650 tank as well as the SR tank are both no goes. Like H1Vindicator said the 650 CSR and 750 LTD are a direct swap but you are not achieving anything there as they are the same tank. If you are not in a huge hurry, when I pickup the 83 KZ750 L-3 I just bought (hopefully this weekend). I can sort of test fit that tank to the 650 CSR I have to see what you would be up against. Looking at the diagrams on the kaw site it looks like it might be possible to bend the mounting tab from horizontal to vertical and have it work.

Nope that is one of the few bikes I don't have (not that I need anymore bikes):pinch: so I can't really voice an opinion there. I know we have some E riders here maybe they can chime in, that is always another possibility.

That is an L3 but it is still in New Mexico (long story). Since I just bought another one though it might just come in handy.

thanks guys, ive got a welder & most any other tools so fabing a rear mount wont be a problem as long as a different tank sits down on the frame. i may be getting a kz frame in the near future but till then id like to make something work.

im not sure about the 650 but the 78 750 twin tank fits the 82 csr750 twin very well
