I´d say 130, assuming the stock ST rim is 2.15 (?) - some would say 140, personally I think a 140 would "balloon" too much.

I had a 130 on the '78 Z1-R and currently have a 140 on the MKII with no problems, even with stock swingarms. Both bikes have the 2.15 rear rim. I think the 130 is much better though according to most rim/tire selection guides. The 2.15 really shouldn't have anything more than a 110, so 140 is really pushing it. I think the stock size was a 4.00 which converts to a measly 101mm! The LTD models at least got a 3" wide rim.

Just in case anybody feels "creative" ... I put a 1994 Yamaha FZR 600 swingarm, rim and brakes on my Z1-R. It was a mono-shock setup but, with a little welding and a few other modifications it fits really nice and provides a wider rim. The weight reduction is also notable as well, I lost about 15lbs. The brakes, rim and swingarm are much lighter. It's a "bit of a job" but works well. I have a picture of the bike in "The Gallery"
