all thread is good for this type of replacement, and can be used over and over, banging the races out?
Different story.
Go to home depot and get yourself a long soild brass punch,or bar and slowly mithotically tap [ not BEAT ] around and around till is comes out. Maybe even if you have some Nitrous oxide, or nitrogen spray it frozen and tapp the crap outta yourself before it thaws. I know thats extreme but as lazy as I am, anything to make a job easier or faster is all I am looking for.
As far as STRAIGHT installation? Any tool guy sells race installation tool for about $15.00. One of the best tools I have ever bought.
