stock sr wheel ideas was created by xstreamcanadian
I wanted to replace my 79 650 SRs wheels with spoke wheels, with a red rim and new chrome spokes, but getting a new hub or one that works is seeming a bit of a bugger as is getting someone to build them for anything less than a right nut. So I wonder has anyone ever bead blasted the stock mag wheels and powder coated just the outside edge, to give it a painted rim with silver insides look??? I wanted to see it before I ruin my last two good wheels with an idea that I came up with while i was sleeping...

750 twin (76-79) front spoke hub will bolt right on, as will the 1000 to at least 79, and possibly the 900.

i have dual rotor in the front and single rear, which is why I cant just swap the ones from my 650 c or b(i cant remember which one is which anymore. I have two sets of mags with the same rotor set-up and one set of spokes with a single rotor and drum, I guess I will hit the wrecker again and try to get ahold of a set off of a 900 or whatever came with the same set-up brake-wise

thanks steel etc good info as always

it seems to me that all the 750 twins have single front rotor, is that hub dual rotor capable does anyone know? dual rotor capable sounds like it should be an acronym. drc... ahhh nevermind...

Believe it or not, I have never looked to see if the front spoked wheel could handle dual disk rotors. Every twin that I have kept has been upgraded to mags (I don't like dealing with spoke wheels)

well steel, if you ever get up to vancouver, canada, i have a couple of sets for you!

I like the old school shiny chrome spokes, and this project has been done in my mind for a while, with red powdered hoops and bright shiny chrome spokes

I'll admit that I think they look really cool, but keeping them clean and tight is a pain in my humble opinion.
My bikes always look great the first day of riding season, but they go downhill from there :D :D

Wash and wax it once a year whether it needs it or not is my policy :D

if I do end up with the mags I am going to get them powder coated for that same reason, i had my downhill mt bike powder coated and its a breeze to keep clean, I hose it off and it looks like i waxed it(in the areas that still have paint)
