zx7 forks, triple/bar options? was created by 77KZ650
My 95 ZX7R forks arrived for my project, and I need an upper triple clamp(got the lower, and stem with the forks). Are there any that fit these forks that have the risers to mount normal bars (maybe a GPz or ZRX?)? I have clubmans, but was thinking about trying the super bike bars, but tht wont be an option if I get the standard clip-ons that go with these type of front ends. I guess I could always weld a set of mounts on later if I need to, but I thought I would check here first...
That being said, if Im stuck with clip-ons, anyone have a set and a triple that fits?
thx
Scott

The upper clamps are generally aluminum and pretty simple for a machinist to make, so that may be an option.

that may be a good way to go, the lower one is aluminum as well, unlike our KZ's

the forks are 52mm if that helps, not sure about the other dimensions for the triple clamp

Here's one solution, although maybe a bit pricey. www.spieglerusa.com/cfm/sbk.cfm You should get a set of bars, longer S/S brake lines and maybe some other cables.

a bit pricey lol, I paid 1/3 that for the forks, nice looking stuff though.

what about triples from other bikes? how would I go about figuring out which ones swap? I know that I can match part numbers, but what about triples that are just a bit different, but would still physically work?
stock looks like this:

I might be way off base here, but I think motorcross bikes use removable risers in their top tree clamps(or so I've been told), so you can just bore holes in the right place and mount the risers to the ZX7 top trees. I'm hoping there's some truth to it. Has to be someone who makes risers so it would just be a matter of finding some and making the necessary mod.s to make it work.

Wait till tomorrow night. I can check the fiche at work and see what interchanges with the upper clamp for your bike. That way you'll have a list of what clamps you can use.

Also, for the clamps, the best bet is to get on Ebay and look for SV650 bar clamps. A lot of the SV guys swap to clip ons, and when they do so, they get rid of their bar clamps.

I've bought them for like $15.00 before.

Hell, we might even have a pair sitting on the shelf at work. I'll look around for ya.

As for the mounting, what you'll need to do is drill two holes for the clamps to mount.

Gimme a day or two to check into things and maybe sort you out with something.

The KZ750 twin uses bolt on risers as well, just need to drill one hole on each side then bolt them in.
