2 part question

i really like the marzocci shocks on my 650 but they are whipped. anyone know of a place in ny who can rebuild them? or where i can find rebuild kits so i can tackle them myself? #2 is on my newest ride(84 zn1100) it has the factory air shocks and the portective boots on the rear are ripped. any chance of getting stock or as close to stock as i can to replace them? i want to keep this one orginal as possible. again, i thank you all for all your advice and knowalge. pics of the repaired tank comming soon.

id be willing to bet some of the snowmobile shock rebuilders could do that for you.seals is seals arent they?? not only that but they can match them to your weight and usualy its maybe 30 to 50 bucks a shock to do them i think...steve

Answer to question one:

I've got a set of Marzocchi's for my 650 that need rebuilding as well.
A while back, someone on KZr (I can't recall who) clued me in to a place down near San Diego that sells parts and rebuild kits for the older (and no longer produced) style of rear motorcycle shocks.
Hopefully that person will drop in this thread and post that info again.
If you want to, you can try contacting them directly through their Marzocchi Suspension website .
Or try using their Dealer locater service to find someone in your area that might be able to help you.
Be prepared for a challenge though!
Since Marzocchi now only makes suspension parts for mountain bikes and moto-cross bikes, the dealer locater will probably only list bicycle shops near you. If one of them doesnt have what you need, they at least might be able to direct you to someone who does.

Answer to question two:

You just might be able to get a NEW set of those.
Kawi lists two diff part#'s for those boots:
49006-1092 = BOOT, SHOCK ABSORBER, BL
49006-1168 = BOOT, SHOCK ABSORBER
I'm not sure what, if any diff there is between the two numbers though. But I'm guessing the "BL" in the description of the 1st numbers stands for "Black".

49006-1092 fits:
83/84 KZ550F (Spectre), 84/85 ZN700 & ZN1100 (LTD), 86/2000 ZG1200 (Voyager).

49006-1168 fits:
84 ZN700 & 84 ZN1100 only. :huh:

Maybe a Kaw dealer or some at KMC can tell you what the actual diff between the two part numbers is.

If the dealer(s) near you don't have those boots, ask them if they'd be kind enough to place a Parts Locater Ad through the Kawi Computer System to see if any other dealers in the U.S. have them.

You could try to search the wreckers for shocks off a newer bike.I just got some offa 2005 zrx1200.They are piggy backs with all the adjustments.$250.
