No Speedo drive...options? was created by Fossil
Picked up a GSXR750 front end, and a ZX9 wheel, with no speedo drive. Any suggestions how to run a speedo...is there a version of the electronic bicycle speedos available?

was the zx9 the wheel came on old enough to use the mechanical speedo drive? if so, just get it and the zx9 speedo and you will be all set

I remember you saying before that you had a problem fitting a ZX wheel with speedo drive into a GSXR fork, well, I got all this and late 6 piston calipers with a remote reservoir master cylinder in a trade. Figured I couldn't lose, and did check if the wheel fit. I don't know what year the wheel is but it doesn't look like a speedo drive can be fitted.

The Zx9 will fit the GSXR axle but you're going to have to trim 1/4" or more off the Zx speedo drive to squeeze everything in the Gixxer forks. Like I said I ran into the same problem and ditched the Zx rim. I could have went with an electronic speedo (like I did on the bike in my avatar) but I wanted to keep the original gauges on my 'Stripfighter. I did find a cool solution that I may upgrade my 1000 to in the future. Take a look.. www.electrosport.com/electrosport_speedo_3900.html It has everything you would want for a decent price. There's always my next streetfighter project...

Hey Fossil,
I recently put a Sigma brand BC1106 on my bicycle and was told by the bike mechanic that he sells a bunch of them to motorcyclists. The installation was easy and it's really programmable for any size wheel.

Bicycle speedos would work fine for you folks in the states who are used to mph - it'd be tougher for us Canucks who are regularly in the triple digits when highway cruising. I guess it means that we'd have to learn the 'old' mph way. ;)

I read somewhere that a guy took the speedo drives out of the new and old rim and was able to switch them by removing the pin that holds them in place.this alowed him to use stock speedo .try the arcives here and at "cyclemadness".It may have been a diff rim but it has been done. if you look through the guys bike pics, you may see one with your rim and stock guages, then you could pm them and ask how.good luck.

That's exactly what I hoping to find. Thanks. Sure will clean up the Buck Rogers style dash boards.
