I am looking for imformation on what of the early KZ's front ends, (triple tree, tubes, lower legs), are compatible with the KZ 1000. I crashed my ride almost 3 weeks ago, and have been looking on ebay for replacement parts. I see a few KZ 750 units out there, are they adaptable to my bike? If not, what may be?

About the only thing on the front end not damaged were the wheel, tire, handlebars, and mirrors. Headlight, guages, triple tree, forks and fender are trash!

Thanks in advance,

Ron

78-79 KZ750 twin front end should bolt on, although you may want to use the original 1000 fork springs.

Thanks for the input! I am getting pieces off of eBay to get back together. Made out good on a lot of the parts. Hopefully, I'll be able to ride within a month.

Damn, I used to bounce, now I just splatter! 56 and finally feeling it!

Here is a site that used to sell fork tubes but they left the list up for reference.

It shows 77-80 KZ1000 fork tubes as being identical to 78-79 KZ1000 fork tubes. I know they are because I used 78 KZ1000 fork tubes when I replaced the extended tubes on a 79 KZ750 twin :)

KZ650 and 76-77 KZ750 tubes will fit, they are an inch shorter though.

I have an early Z1 front end on one of my KZ900s and a 79 KZ1000 LTD front end on the other. Just get the whole mess including brakes to make the swap easier...

I'm on Cape Cod, MA. I located a 36mm front end on eBay with lower legs in decent shape from a KZ750B.
Thanks for the "tube site!" The tubes are an inch shorter than the KZ1000 tubes, I was looking for a lower ride as I only drive solo. No need having two poeple getting banged up! I need a lower leg which are included on the deal.

Thanks again for the assist. Now I only have to work the dents out of the gas tank!
