I posted in the engine forum about increasing the hp on my KZ1000 and several posters mentioned that the chassis needs help. Can anyone direct me to where I can learn where and how it needs to be upgraded? This is a street bike.

swingarm pivot area and steering head and backbone area are biggest problem areas depending on what year of frame you are using.heavier solid motor mounts and oversize otor mount bolts can also help by using motor to tie tubes together.the swingarm is probably the biggest improvement you can make, pitch the stock arm and put a good aluminum swingarm on there.;)

Thanks for the advise and links. I can weld so it looks very doable for me. It's the swingarm that is giving me a headache on researching. So many to choose from, and none in front of me on a bench to look at. I want one not overly complicated to swap and about the factory arm length.

Check the links here on KZR. There's GPz modifications, and Tony Foale's chassis mods. Both for later bikes than yours, but some of the info is applicable.

kosman is no longer available, and Jay from APE says he's never had them or has never seen them. It would just be quicker for me to get the kit. I'm busy as hell in the shop and for the $150 the kit was going for that's two hours of my shop time, and I"m sure it would take me longer than that to make all the peices. So last resort I could make the kit, but it would save me to buy one from somewhere. Thanks for all the help so far though.
