KZ1000J / KZ1000R
25 Sep 2006 20:21
I am currently in the process of converting an 82 1000 J into a Eddie Lawson clone, I would like to upgrade the front forks and front breaks, anyone already done this? What will fit?
Thanks

anything that wil fit it your trees, or you can just put on a different triple tree and go with clip ons. we would prefer you stay with ma kaw of course
.
I hear ninja components work quite well, but be prepared to have brakes that will actually stop

Thanks for the reply, I have bought a 99 ZRX 1100 swing arm and shocks, I have the front and rear wheels from a 99 ZX6R, I also have the complete front end off the 99 ZX6R, but I was concerned about geomerty where the fork tubes fron the ZX are shorter in length.

How much shorter. May change geometry for better. As long as it ain't too twitchy and ground clearance or header pipe clearance isn't an issue try and fit at least to get visual look.

The ZX6R fork tubes are I think 3 7/8" shorter than the original forks. I'll try and fit them up as soon as the bike arrives, I have the front end, and the wheels and swingarm, but the bike is still in transit.
