Front brake/swingarm conversions...

Today my (slightly un-bleedable)front master cylinder failed on the way to my mates house! Thankfully he has a gsxr400 streetfighter he's breaking so I nabbed the cylinder off him!!

He's told me I can have the whole front brake assembly for £30 (around $58) and Due to them being nissin 4 pot calipers I'm sorely tempted. Question is how much work will it be? If I can get brackets made up for the fork legs is that it?

Also, after trawling previous posts I'm sorely tempted to buy the whole arse-end off the gixxer and go monoshock rear disk. I am looking to do an engine swap in the near future (probably to a gpz750 motor,)
so the more ridged my set up the better. Am I biteing off more than I can chew here? I can weld, so That doesn't bother me. Does anybody have any decent pic's of how they've mounted their monoshock to their frame?

Jon.

Come on people, surely someone has some advice? I'm gonna measure the swingarm mount gaps on sunday when I swap the chain/sprockets out as I have a mate who's braking a gixxer 400, am hoping it should fit. I need some advice on welding the shock mount, what differance to the suspension does the angle have? I want it to be low, but not too harsh!

I've heard others say you want the shock as vertical as possable. I guess it also depends on the swing arm design. Over here in North America, we don't get to see too many (actually none at all) GSXR400s. Got a picture of the arm?

Cheers for the links, Looks like it may be even easier than I thought!!! I don't have the £200 he wants for the whole rear end at the mo, so will have to wait a while!

Ok, time for an update, My front brakes are still crap, so I'm guessing I have an air leak somewhere!

This week I picked up a swingarm and shock from a gpz 550 for......99p (under $2) :)

so I'm now gathering the research to do the swap. Can anyone tell me the wheel size from a gpz as the arm looks a little narrow for my wheel? The actual arm mounts look ok but there isn't going to be room for my drum brake setup!

I've seen lots of info on gixxer swingarm convertions so I have a rough idea of the mountings. I just need a decent shot of how it all aligns on the gpz!

Cheers!

83 GPz550 rear wheel is 18"x2.5" (on US Models), I don't know about earlier models.
83-85 GPz750 rear wheel is 18"x3" and uses the same diameter axle.

Maybe convert to rear disk?
