Radial tires on a GPz1100?

Hi all, I have seen others on the internet using radial tires on the 83/84 GPz1100s without any problems (they came stock with tubeless bias plys.)

But people here locally tell me that's a bad idea but no one can tell me why.

What is your take on it?

as long as the rims are wide enough i wouldnt think it would be a problem, gpz has a pretty stiff frame compared to flexi-flyer z frame.;)

I read a few posts too about putting radials on bikes that previously had bias-ply tires. I don't think it would be a problem unless you were racing or such that it could be a problem with the suspension.

I am going to put a set of radials on and see how it does.

I've read concerns about the rims being a different shape or angle for radial tyres, don't know if they are true or not though. I'd suggest phoning the technical department of the tyre manufacturer you plan to use and asking them if their tyres suit your bike.
