Well, I bought a diffrent wheel to run on my KZ900.. its off a KZ650. I didnt notice this until today.. but theres grind marks on my wheel, and its not perfectly smooth/round at that area on the outside. You can see in the pictures I took..

Well, anyone seen this before on a KZ wheel ?

It has been years since I looked at one, but that looks normal to me. It appears to be where the rim was welded together when it was manufactured. Since once the tire is mounted you will never see this I don't guess the factory saw a lot of sense in making it smooth and pretty.

yea totally normal while I was just having my wheel relaced and all that, I noticed it too and asked the same question to myself. It's fine. Isn't a kz650 a different axel size or is it just shorter?

The wheel bearings on the kz650 wheel I got are the same as my kz900.. so it uses the same axle diameter at least. I think I did look up parts on buykawasaki.com and figured this wheel would work. It went on my bike just fine :) Now I need to swap tire and work on my new brake system..

Very cool that you can do just a bearing swap and then it works.
