Help? Which extended swing arm? was created by AJCrader
I have a 78 KZ650, and want the extended are, but i have no febricating skills, are there any kits that would just bolt in and give at least 4 inches? I also want to lower the rear too, any ideas?

I searched through the forums, but wasn't able to find anything.

900/1000 more popular for drag racing. Extended swing arms not a standard project for 650's. Find out how wide your arm is at the pivot point. Then try to find out what swing arms will fit. Try older GSXR and 750 triples.

if all you want is a bolt it up and go kit. nope, if you want to do a little creative work you can make some other swing arms fit. sorry there just isnt a swing arm extenion kit like they make for the newer street rockets.

I would look for a 750 triple swingarm. Is 3" longer than the 900's and not near as wide at the pivot point. You will need to come up with spacers probably. TRy e-bay or a bike wrecker.

You said a 750 triple, whats funny is i almost had a mechanically sound one for $1500, but looked ugly...are there any particular years of the 750 triple, or just any?

the kz1000 arm fits, and the gs1100 arm fits, both are longer than the 650 arm, i have also seen lowering links on 1000s that move the shock mounts back, also try shorter shocks, ive been told that stock HD shocks work well and can be picked up off of ebay cheaply

If your fab skills are under developed stay with drum. Gs swingarms are good, square section and stronger. Struts will lower your rear end you won't need to botherwith lowering kits.

If you are going to a lot wider rim or 180-200 tire then I suggest going with a disc (little fab but less trouble in the end). If you are going a little wider tire like 130-160 on stock rim I would stay with drum. As far as braking I've ridden both and although the disc is a little better it was not that much better. That's why I stayed with drum. But kind of a pain in the butt trying to make work in the end.

Actually I had a 3 or 4inch over arm made for my drum brake 79kz650 about 3 years ago it's still at the machine shop. If you are interested maybe we can work something out. We actually forgot about it till the other day when I was talking to him on the phone and he said hey you remember that swingarm thing and I was like oh yea. :) It was made to fit the stock width pivot point so no spacers would be needed. Just a exact bolt on. He also does very nice work. Pm if interested.
