There is a step in my manual which calls for a special tool when reinserting the damper rod in the inner tube. Use a 'cylinder guide tool' to compress the piston ring inside the fork tube. Is this absolutely necessary? What's the workaround to the special tool?
I have this feeling they will go right into place, it's probably just precaution to make sure you don't damage the piston rings.
Could use some advice from folks in the know.
Thanks
