LTD seat conversion
08 Jun 2026 14:04 - 08 Jun 2026 14:05
The seat on my 1982 LTD750 (stepped seat) is not very comfortable. Is there a flat seat on another KZ that will fit my LTD ? Or, will a reproduction KZ 900 or 1000 seat cover fit my seat pan so I just need to shape the foam to fit? Any other options to convert to better flat style seat?

If you live near a large city, there is likely a motorcycle seat specialist there who could use your seat pan and add customized foam and upholstery. The local custom bike crowd should know.
Companies like Corbin may also take on custom work. Would certainly be worth the price of a call to find out.
If you are adventurous, you can get some better foam at a furniture upholstery shop, shape it yourself and have somebody make a new cover to fit.

Do you have a Kz750H (4-cyl) or a Kz750G (2-cyl)?
The H has a 2-part seat but the G has a single seat pan.

I have the 4 cyl h3 version. I emailed mean city cycles Their price starts at $435 and up for a custom seat cover. That's more than I want to spend on a seat. I am considering Texavina.com. They offer seats made in Vietnam for $278 shipped but I'm not sure of the quality. Has anyone bought one of their seats?

I was looking into alternative seats for a 440LTD. If I understand the situation correctly, Texavina and daytrader are more or less the same entity, and you'll get hosed on tariffs trying to ship the seat from Vietnam.
I stripped all of the foam off an OEM seat pan and made a new foam layer from a 2.25"-thick piece from an exercise/balance mat, then made a not-great cover for it with a roll of marine-grade vinyl upholstery. The stamped-out metal points around the bottom edge of the pan wouldn't get through the vinyl, so I had to make starter holes with a utility knife. I do have the appropriate needles and thread to do the corners properly but likely don't have the skill.

there might be a seat cover listed on ebaayy. the 1-piece 750H seat should be the same as the 650csr. there's a custom made csr seat cover listed on eb w stretchy material that's probably similar to the material on a travelcade seat cover from back in the day.

I just ordered one from daytrader-07. Hope it doesn't take too long from Vietnam to Pennsylvania. Thanks for suggestions and comments.

I went through the same thing with my LTD and looked for different options. The stepped seat limits rider position and IMO looks too bulky. If you want to swap to a flat seat pan you'll need that section of frame from a donor to weld onto yours. Either that or have a custom seat made. The Texavina seats look good, I'd like to see the one you ordered when you install it.
