hey anybody have a quick fix for a stuck trip meter on 1977 kz650 b1? Mine worked till it didn’t. It just kinda hanging in one spot. I can turn it backwards but not any to rest meter. Don’t wanna force it to break gears if appreciate any help

Some photos to show what's inside. Unfortunately not easy to access unless you remove the crimp ring. One thing you can do is check if you have the "early" style set screw reset knurled knob. Just make sure the set screw is fully engaged with dip in shaft. Both style knob assemblies shown. Other then that probably old damper fluid has gotten between the individual trip meter register wheels and sticking them together. This upsets the free movement of each wheel relevant to the next. Last photo shows two of the three different 140mph speedos used. Being yours is a B1 or first year, you should have the inner black reflector, not green.

So the wheels are all made of metal that’s good to know I was afraid I’d break a plastic wheel if I forced to hard. Will try again thanks so much
