Clicking noise from front drive belt pulley when coasting was created by Legionnaire1856
1982 kz305 belt. I've just changed the tires and aligned and tensioned the belt correctly and the bike has a loud clicking noise when rolling in neutral or with the clutch pulled in. This was happening before I took the wheels off to change the tires as well. The noise is coming from the front belt pulley area.
I've seen people say the drive belt is too tight, but it's absolutely in spec. Is it possible there's something wrong with my clutch or pulley bearing?

I assume the pulley bolt is tight ?

Years ago I put new shocks on the rear wheel and tensioned the chain correctly as per the manual with bike on the center stand. Some time later I noticed a click in the area of the front sprocket. To make a long story short the replacement shocks were about an inch longer and the chain was tight with both wheels firmly on the ground. No more setting tension on center stand. I could have ruined the bearing on the output shift.
New tire larger diameter than reccomended perhaps ?
My advice - loosen the tension and see if you lose the tick.
Remove the sprocket/pulley cover and rotate the rear wheel
Good luck
