KZ440 belt drive front sprocket sqealing
25 Jul 2025 20:30
Hi, so the title is pretty straightforward. There is a sqeal from the belt at the top of the sprocket where they both meet on the left side (facing it from the back of the bike). I know that because I felt all around for where the vibrations come from.
I've only started dealing with it now because I just changed my tire so while I'm in there messing with the belt, I might as well try to fix the sqealing issue. It's done that for a while although I don't remember it doing that last year.
I've messed with the adjusting bolts for the tire to get the belt to go away from the left edge of the sprocket but even if the belt is not rubbing on that side it still makes the noise on that side. At that point I gave up and here I am now.
I haven't found any other posts with a similar issue that had an answer so I'm looking for any knowledge or advice to help me fix this problem. I can hear the sqealing when rotating the tire by hand and it is most noticeable when driving slowing down because it sounds like a turbine engine. As always, thanks for any input; it is always appreciated. 😊
