Unusual frame modifications was created by 73z1
Distance from front of frame tube to back of center stand bolt is 2.025"
Working on a 73 where distance is 1.860"
Center stand hits back of oil pan.
I've had bikes with shorted side stands, center stands, shocks for short riders.
Never seen this, welds are very nice, looks intentional, do not know why.

Strange unless at some point a PO was considering a "mono-shock" ???????? (just spit balling) or maybe they had been removed previously and re-instated at a later date ??

The more I think about it I think the factory did this.
Lots of work to remove the factory welds and move the brackets .165", makes no sense.
Never seen this before.

I had the same thing on one of my 75 Z1 bikes. Bike came without a center stand so I thought I should check one on the bike. Hit the pan. So here is a side by side comparison of a good frame to the 75 questionable. frame They were lined up side by side and you can see the misalignment on the left frame. I ended up removing that frame member and welding in one from a good doner frame.

And new member

Finish bike
