GPZ1100B1 Steering lock lug position
23 Mar 2025 08:19
Hi, anybody know if there were different steering lock lug positions on GPZ1100b steering head. I have a UK bike and the lug is broken off but looks like it was on the front of the steering head.
The only reference picture I have is a European bike that has it on the right side (See pic)
(I know on other bikes sometimes German bikes had different steering locks)
TIA

more I look at this the more I think its not been changed. Parts catalogs show there were 2 different iggy switches for the GPZ1100B1 and I suspect one would never work with the lug on the right side of the steering head but it would line up with whats left on my frame. But Im not sure this lock would fit my top yoke. Now I dont know whether to fab & weld a lug to fit the current lock or take a chance and buy the other lock and see if it fits, Dont suppose anyone can shed light on why the different lock types, could it be something like a a fairing and different clocks which are also shown in the parts catalog for a B1
Another option is that my bike was first registered in 1982 so could it be a B2 frame which would have different clocks/fairing. I had a look on zedder at Vin numbers and although zedder shows an incorrect modern 17chr Vin format, the actual range of numbers it shows makes mine a B2!!! So did B2s have a different frame lug to B1s
Questions, questions!
Current lock type
