the fork tubes for my 83 ELR are NLA anywhere and they only fit 82 and 83 ELR's so.does anyone know where i can get them ground and hard chromed again other than sending them to the UK,

Maybe check out some hydraulic cylinder rebuilders, the shafts are very similar to fork tubes and they rechrome them during the rebuild. I don't know if they will step out of their comfort zone and work on fork tubes.
There's always Frank's Forks, I have talked to him before and he's very helpful.

It's surprising that there are several company's on this little island providing this service but when I did a quick search for you the only one I found was in California (which is probably further than the UK !!)

what was the name of the place in California, easier for me as i live near the border and can ship from WA
