Many years ago, as a 20 year old, I had the choice of travelling from Nova Scotia to PEI with a girlfriend (about 700 kms / 435 miles), or replacing my back tire, which needed it. I chose the trip. When I got home, I was through 2 of the 4 plies on the tire. That kept me awake for many nights, worrying about what might have happened. I've never taken a chance like that since.

Whats the date code ? although it doesn't look like it matters from the looks of the tire.

Your rear tire is end of life and needs to be replaced, see the TWI mark (Tire Wear Indicator) . The most wear is in the middle and indicates a lot of highway use.

Centre wear could also be down to over inflation

If you think it may be time to replace the tire, its time to replace the tire.

I agree with the others, this tyre needs replacing.

When you're looking for a replacement, consider going for a dual-compound if you're not already. It looks like you have plenty of highway use with the middle worn but the edges fine, a dual compound will have a firmer compound in the middle for extended life, and a softer compound at the sides to keep cornering grip.

I had a Michelin commander II on the rear of my KZ750LTD until someone nicked it and did burnouts ruining the tyre. I'm not sure I'd recommend that tyre for general use (dry grip was good, but wet grip was not great), but I had 15,000 km on that tyre and It probably wasn't even half worn.

Yep, with inflation, and therefore costs going up, it gives me the sh1ts and I ride harder...   Not that inflation ?

They’ll be fine as long as you ride slow and it doesn’t rain.

I like the handling in all conditions have had them for around 5 years (not driving to much) so plan to go for the same tires.

can check the date later today.
