KZ750N1 front fork dissembly was created by dnpurdy
Hey, I'm trying to dissemble my front forks to replace the oil seals.  I've taken the fender off, removed the calipers, and pulled the front wheel.

After draining the oil, I was able to get the socket head bolt out of the bottom of the first fork, from the bottom. Once that bolt was removed, the outer tube was able to drop down the whole length of the inner tube.

I would have expected from the drawings and instructions in the manual that the outer tube would then completely come off and out of the inner tube, allowing access to the seals for replacement. However, when it reaches the end of the length of the inner tube, it seems to bottom out against something, almost like a lip or ridge.

Obviously, I'm missing someone stupid about how to take these apart. Anyone help?

You have to remove the retainer clip #7 to un-lock the fork seal.

So I was able to remove that circlip just fine, but the lower tube still gets stuck at the bottom of the inner tube.

I loosened the triple tee clamp bolts around the fork leg, and actually by sliding the outer tube up and down, it actually worked the fork out of the triple tee - kinda like a slide hammer.

So clearly something else is retaining the outer tube....

Happy to take a short video if anyone would think that would be helpful to see what I'm experiencing

There is also an Allen head screw with an copper washer bolt to the piston/damper unit you had to remove next.

Here’s a good vid showing how to rebuild while leaving the spring in place (just bottom end) for a fluid/seal replacement.
