81 Ltd 550 front brakes

Hello, new to the forum! Just got an 81 kz550 ltd with 11k miles and in pretty great shape. Except the front brake. There is none. The master cylinder is all corroded. What should I do about this? Do you think the caliper is ok? I have a new MC and pads on the way...is the caliper interchangeable with any other bikes out there?? Thanks

That caliper assembly was used on several models, and the caliper itself may have been used on others. On the page at the link below, scroll down to the Related Fitment list, and scroll down that list to see the models that have the same assembly.

It's pretty easy to rebuild the caliper you have.  Pop out the piston and inspect for corrosion.  If the piston is pitted, get a new one (assuming it's still available) and replace the seals.  Also replace the brake lines.  Regarding the master, get the same size as your bike had originally.  The old master should be marked with it's size.

According to Partzilla, the seals and piston are still available.
