I have a 1981 KZ650-D4 (The SR series of KZ650 was internally known as the Kawasaki KZ650D.)

wherr the gas tank could be larger.,,
What larger gas tank will fig the frame without modifications?

F2 has 16,8l / 4,4 gallon, will it fit the frame and brackets, anybody know?

right now I have 14l / 3.7 gallon.

I think the standard tank is 16.5 liters.  So you are not gaining much with this alternative.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

I've seen many D model 650s with B/C/F tanks, and vice versa, so I think mounting is no issue.

I know Rick/bensherb on the 650info forum has a D tank on his B model.

Yes, Rick confirms it's a straight swap, D tank on the B/C/F models or their tank on a D model.

Side covers for a B will not fit a D.  Different mount holes.  Gas tanks are interchangeable.

You can use a B, C or F model tank, they are the same size.
The tank badges are different through the years, 1977 & '78 having recessed badges and all caps KAWASAKI, and '79 and later not recessed and Kawasaki spelt with lower case letters too.
