Having got the bike with parts missing how and where does this bracket fit on my kz1000A  pls

    I don't know, but the plate is in the battery case diagram which shows the orientation.
    It might possibly be a support for the battery case, but that is just a guess.

    Just to add more detail to the diagram posted by ThatGPzGuy. The bolts indicated as number #19 will bolt to the engine to frame upper rear brackets
