I have a set of Lester Mags I'm am going to get around to painting one of these months!
19" x 2.15" front, 4 bolt disc, 18" x 2.15" Drum brake rear.
Was wondering about a 120 or 130 rear tire size. Figure for the next person to use on a stock chassis?
I figure I'd buy a set of average tires and mount them. I polished the rims, just have to mask and paint a satin black.
I have a titled 76 KZ900 frame. With nice polished front end, a dual disc brake set up. I have dual disc's for the Lester also. Figure I'd put these wheels on just to roll it around. Take it off the barn job milk crate & HF wood dolly
Plus I put that old RC Eng. header on the mild drag bike, with the 18" front rim and lowered forks? Now less clearance Clarence! Might have to go back to 19" front?
I checked with eBay about a complete lot auction with 3 frames with titles. Said no go! Only one vehicle with VIN title at a time per ad.
I just think that 120 tire is a little whimpy looking. but the rear is a 2.15 width rim as the front.
Or $7,500 takes it all. That # has been floating around the Commie FB pages.

A 130 is too wide for the rim. A 120 is too wide too by many tire manufacturers info, but Kawasaki used that combo so it must be okay.

We've stayed with stock sizes on our Lesters. 4.00x18 for the rear. Continental Conti Twins. Rated tube or tubeless. Vintage look tread pattern on a modern tire.

HiJim, Thanks! That makes the most sense. As long as I can recoup the costs also? With the high price of selling Lesters lately.
and was that you typing about an old Suzuki 1972 T something 90cc big tire bike?
I came across one in the mid late 90's, I hung a Briggs on it and painted it for my Son.
He was 15, we took it to a Harley Patch Holder weekend camp out. He was the hit with everyone! I seen him drinking beer and he got to see the T- contest at night!
We both still remember that weekend!
But, stay safe and enjoy life!

I own a 1977 KZ650-C1 that I bought new way back when. The rear wheel is 2.15 x 18. For years I ran a size 130 rear tire on it. Several years ago I switched to a 120 rear tire. I found that because the 130 tire was somewhat deformed to fit on the narrow rim it did not put any more rubber on the road than the 120 tire that was not deformed to fit the rim. Either tire works, but the 130 is more difficult to mount and does not increase the rubber that contacts the road. I will not switch back to the 130 tire. Ed

Thanks Ed. Good advice from all so far. I am not using these at all. I plan on selling soon. I actually wanted to put tires on the rims, just to mount them on a frame so I can move it around my garage. But I still have to paint the rims 1st. I have a set of dual disc brakes along with fresh ground 5mm discs to go along also. Just combining my parts for a complete lot sale hopefully. I've been floating it around FB forums for a little while. $7,500 takes all I have. I gave up on eBay! Too time consuming and shipping is getting crazy! Plus the OINK cult is taking over for Kaw partsMarty in Buffalo

It looks like some of the 130/80-18 tires are specified for 2.50"-3.50" rim width (Roadrider, BT46), so you could probably squeeze one onto a 2.15" wheel. However, it's still likely too wide for the KZ1000.
This is what a 130 wide tire did to my chain guard. After this I went to a 120 wide tire and fixed it up with a bit of aluminum so the ends wouldn't flap around.

Yeah, that's us looking for a Suzuki RV90, or some other electric start, fat-tire monkey bike on the cheap just to crawl around swap meets on that's easier to handle on gravel than our '78 Honda Hobbit moped with it's two-inch-wide tires. It's a real handful at slow speed in deep gravel. The RV-90 is two stroke & electric start, so The Lovely Z1BEBE can ride it without struggling to kickstart or pedal start with her bionic knee. slmjim might not be too far behind with the bionic knee thing himself the way things are feeling...
