750H fuel range? was created by BobZ
I recently got my 82 750H LTD on the road...fuel light comes on at about 80 miles...have to go on reserve at about 90. That seems awfully low. Is that normal?

Is the bike stock or modded?
The tank holds 3.3 gallons so figure about .75 gallons in reserve. 40 mpg gets you about 100 miles until reserve.

Stock airbox, MAC header. Jets are all stock except for the secondary main...136 vs. 125. I guess the range is pretty much normal.

Yes, normal. Range anxiety is definitely an issue w a number of Ltd/CSR 4 cylinder models.
My 650-CSR gets around 45mpg mixed riding in town & 52 on the highway. still get nervous after 100 miles. same fuel tank as yours.

And if you do a tank seal, you lose capacity and therefore range too.
One of the things I like about my '82 550 GPz is with it's 4.8 gallon tank and good gas mileage (it would get over 60mpg back when there was a 55 mph speed limit that was enforced, and if you beat the crap out of it you'd still get 45, 39 was the worst I ever got, 50-55mpg was normal) I could go well over 200 miles, once going just under 250 miles although really sore butt or arms was the real limiting factor, not the tank.
It always irritated me when a friend with a 650 would have to stop for gas and I'd be at least 100 miles from reserve.

I have an 81 kz750H. My standard is 40 miles to the gallon. I normally get 120 miles to EMPTY. when I say empty I mean won’t go another foot. To be safe I normally go about 100 miles in between fill ups.
